It’s almost time to wave goodbye to winter, and I’m sure most of us are sighing in relief to do so. With the absence of winter comes the flowers of the arriving spring and new hairstyles for all! Take off your winter hats and rush to your favorite hair stylist as we take a look at the hairstyles for the rest of 2014.
Old world charm is arriving with the messy Renaissance braid. After the crazy renditions from last year, this one will be much easier to manage by braiding as usual, then pulling strands to frame the face. It doesn’t have to be perfect, as it is meant to resemble what a peasant girl would wear in those days. Even lower maintenance is the mermaid wave style for 2014. Braid wet hair before bed to achieve this tousled, lush wavy look. In fact, bedhead is trending as chic and beautiful. Up dos are even easier. Throw your hair into an effortless, wispy up do, and you’re in style. Add some small flowers or flower accessory to top off this ethereal trend.
A ponytail is always in, and this year, they’re getting all different kinds of twists. From odd and unconventional to a low level ponytail, they are all over the place. Perhaps the best way to wear this simple look is to wear a ponytail low and twist it at the nape of the neck, creating a natural and interesting knot.
Hair textures are being mixed up, too. It seems to be the instyle thing to part straight down the middle, shellac the part down, then blow dry the rest of the hair. A far cry from what seems to be a maintenance free season, this hairdo is definitely something you and your hair stylist should consider.
