Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese star playing on the Real Madrid team for Spain but captains for the national team in the World Cup competition. His previous team was Manchester United and he’s had a history of funky hairstyles like spikes and long, curly locks. His World Cup look is shorter and tamer than what we’ve seen in the past, but his hairstylist did slice a big Z into the side of his head for added interest.
One of Cristiano’s national teammates, Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha, goes affectionately by Nani. While they play together on the World Cup stage, their regular season positions find them on different teams since Nani plays for the Manchester United. He showed up to the World Cup this year having shaved three stars into his hair with his squad number (17) showing in one of them. We’re not sure if his hairstylist would have promoted this or not.
To contrast those short and clean hairstyles, we have the United States star, Kyle Beckerman sporting some crazy dreadlocks and a very hippy look. He could be the most recognized face when it comes to hairstyles. Many pundits are talking about the U.S.A. team’s hairstyles as some of the best on the World Cup stage with everything from DaMarcus Beasley and Tim Howard’s bald tops to Kyle Beckerman’s dreadlocks. We’re also seeing progressive styles such as perma-parts and fades.
Ivory Coast’s Geoffory Serey Die and Ghana’s John Boye are fans of the short blond Mohawk on closely cropped dark tresses, while Mario Balotelli from Italy also prefers the spiky Mohawk but without the color change.
