Photo Of Woman's Hair After Damaged Hair Treatment- Salon Du Beau MondeIt seems that every season brings a different challenge for styling hair and keeping it healthy. With the warm months coming up, treating damaged hair is just as much of a concern as it is during the winter. In the summer, with heat and humidity in seemingly endless supply, a keratin treatment is one great way to help soothe damaged hair and get it looking vibrant and healthy again.

Keratin is a protein that’s already naturally occurring in human hair. A treatment is great for strengthening hair, as well as making it shiny and healthy again. If you’re looking to soften your curls, this is a great method. The benefits of getting a typical keratin treatment generally last anywhere from three to six months. They may also make hair healthier in the long-term, in addition to working as a short-term solution.

When you go for a keratin treatment, expect to get your hair washed with a clarifying shampoo first and then blow-dried. Keratin is then applied to the hair and sealed on with the use of a flat iron, as the heat helps it set in to your hair. The aftercare for some treatments is similar to that of a perm: for 72 hours, you can’t wash your hair or get it wet it anyway, nor can you pull it back or tuck it behind your ears to ensure it sets well. Some newer treatments might allow you to style it sooner after getting it done.

These treatments are great if you’re looking to reduce the time spent blow-drying your hair or if you want more shine, softness and straightness. If you’re pregnant or have overly damaged hair, this is not the treatment for you. Talk with your hair stylist to determine the best course of action.
